>>> PROCEED TO THE MAP <<<

Before proceeding to the World Map of Arctica please take a moment to read this introduction and about it's development.  The land that once used to be know as Antarctica a very long time ago; is currently called Arctica by the more intellectual scholars.  Why or how this change came about is unknown; it took place thousands of years ago.

Whatever the cause... it may never be determined.  People have many present problems to worry about.  Somehow they have survived and even allowed the reoccurrence of lost races like the elves, dwarves, and halflings.  In addition races not so pleasant have returned too, like orcs, ogres, and many others.  Plus a variety of nasty monsters.

The map can be zoomed in on... there are four quadrates of the map... select and click on the one you wish to see.  You will be able to focus even further after that.  There are limits of course... more detail can be added at anytime, therefore, it's undetermined just how many levels of zooming there is... you'll just have to find out for yourselves.  Thunder Canyon can be found in the northwest quadrate somewhere on Couver Island.

The map contains over 80 major towns and cities... I had originally named them all... after further thought I decided to honor some of my favorite authors by selecting names from their fantasy worlds. Many players will recognize the names from Raymond E. Feist (Riftwar & Serpentwar sagas), Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time series), and Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman (Darksword series). The map doesn't show some of the smaller towns and villages... for these I may use other favorite authors like Terry Brooks (Elfsong & Elfstones series), David Eddings (various), and various others.  I should say that I only use the names... nothing else about them will be similar to the authors design... when possible I will design my own "life" for these places.  I highly recommend these fantasy authors... go read them!  :-)

This map was created by myself for the purpose of the Thunder Canyon game.  I have included quite a few details and will further develop descriptions and even more details in the future.  Since the game takes place in Thunder Canyon... great detail isn't necessary right away.  I will gladly consider your ideas and suggestions, if you care to make any... there is must room for growth and development." - Michael Horvath

Oh, you're welcome to use the map for your game (internet, role playing, or whatever) as long as it's free for others and that you give me (Michael Horvath) credit for the work.  Hope you enjoy it!" - GM
