Don't you just hate it when un-invited guests interupt dinner?"In Thunder Canyon you will find some common guilds and factions... commercial ones like the Tanner's Guild, Wood Carvers Guild, Armorers Guild, etc.  There are some more special ones like Thieves Guild, Magic-users Guild, and Clerical Orders.  Some are underground illegal ones... some are very honorable and well welcomed.

It's good to get familiar with the guilds and factions that control the various commercial markets around Thunder Canyon.  This is true for service minded Guilds like the Butler Guild, Armor Guard Guild, and from the oldest profession... Women of the Night Guild.  There's nothing saying you MUST belong but eventually you will face some kind of penalty or sanction.

One nice fact is that not every possible Guild in the world is valuable in Thunder Canyon... it's just not big or valuable enough to warrant that.  That means there's room for the players to establish one... if they want... or that there's room to profit.
