I
can not begin to imagine what the implications may or could be by reproducing
(using) the graphics and intellectual endeavours of so many great artists
and writers.
I just
hope the cow paddies won't hit the fan... there's enough do-do to go around
in this world already. I just want to explain why some art on these
sights appear as they do. Maybe understanding my situation or reasons,
the artists and writers will go easy on me.
1)
If there is a work of art or literature that is strictly copyrighted but
has found it's way on the Internet... I DO TRY TO GET PERMISSION.
I can not guarantee everything on this sight is legit. I don't plan
on becoming a "big shot" so I figure it couldn't hurt. If I don't
find the final owner... I try to provide a link to some art or site that
honors the artist or writer... to at least allow them the opportunity to
track me. They can nicely ask to have the art work removed and I
will comply.
2)
Some of the work is gathered from works that don't appear to have copyrights
or have wave their rights to the works (stating that they are useable for
private works). This may seem "fishy" but it's not my idea... so I use
what they offer. When possible I link back to them or whatever site
that's appropriate.
3)
Coming from a time long ago when TSR (the LORDS of fantasy RPG's) allowed
players to copy selections of their games to use in game play... and that
is all I'm doing now. I'm managing a game that needs the occasional
map, picture or form to complete (or aid in) the game. The nice thing
is with today's technology it's easier then ever before. I use to
spend hundreds of hours typing out info on my old Apple IIc... saving dozens
and dozens of 5.25" floppy disks to use and re-use. What a hassle!
4)
Having seen hundreds and hundreds fantasy pictures and read as many games
or books... I have developed a liking to one or another artist or author.
THIS IS A COLLECTION OF MY FAVOURITE WORKS. Like a scrap book of
my past 20+ years playing fantasy RPG's. I hope the artists and writers
will be honored because it's the total truth... I could never say enough
about what awesome work they have done or how wonderfully it's made me
feel... I use to "day dream" and fly away to other worlds. All because
of other peoples skills were able to reproduce these works of art and story.
5)
For some... the Internet is a monster as much as it is a wondrous aid...
there's too much "gray area" about the Internet and the copyrights that
it infringes upon. I don't think it's prefect but am happy to be
enriched with what it has to offer. The Internet may never be properly
governed and for that I am indifferent... I believe everyone should make
up their own mind. Not to profit from other's efforts but to accept
and grow from what's made available. Without sounding to deep...
I will use the art work and ideas until I'm asked not to. I don't
plan on making money from this and because it's for entertainment purposes
only... I believe it's alright to do what I am... trust me... I can't sleep
at night if I'm hurting anyone. Strange but true... I look forward
to hearing from unsatisfied artists and writers... however, I trust those
will be few and far between.
6)
For the sake of arguing I'd like to say that IF any images are copyrighted
they would be by Wizards
of the Coast who bought out TRS and now produce Dungeons
& Dragons 3rd Edition. In no way am I or this site affiliated
with Wizards of the
Coast.
THANK YOU AND
ENJOY!!!!
Sincerely,
Michael
Horvath
